A Kerb in the "Wiesbadener Ländchen"
Delkenheim is an eastern district of Wiesbaden and geographically belongs to the so-called Wiesbadener Ländchen – a rural area between Mainz-Kastel and Hochheim. The Delkenheim Kerb, organized by the carnival society Delgemer Edelweiß e.V., is one of the traditional local festivals in the city and takes place every year in September. In 2026, the Kerb will run from September 18th to 20th.
Festival Service and Kerb Parade
Kerb Sunday traditionally begins with a festival service in the Ländchesdom, the late Gothic church of St. Markus. At 2 PM, the colorful Kerb parade through Delkenheim sets off – with clubs, music groups, and decorated floats. Afterwards, the celebration continues on the festival grounds: live music, catering by local clubs, and amusement rides for families.
Three Days of Local Festival
Like all Wiesbaden Kerben, the Delkenheim Kerb follows the classic three-day schedule: Friday evening opening with a beer keg tapping and musical opening, Saturday the big dance evening in the festival tent, Sunday the highlight with the church service and parade. The KG Delgemer Edelweiß and its partner clubs provide catering with Hessian cuisine – Handkäs mit Musik, Worschtebrot, Apfelwein – and the musical program.
Kerb Tradition as an Anchor of Identity
In the Rhine-Main region, the Kerb (Kirchweih – church consecration festival) is much more than a folk festival: it is an expression of local identity. In districts like Delkenheim, which were incorporated into Wiesbaden but retain their village independence, the annual Kerb is the most important date in the club calendar. Anyone who wants to experience an authentic, non-touristy Wiesbaden outside the spa town's backdrop will find it here.
Location and Surroundings
Delkenheim is located between Wiesbaden-Mitte and Hochheim am Main, with good connections to the A66 and A671 motorways. The Wiesbaden district of Nordenstadt, with its own Kerb tradition, is also nearby.
