Live podcast recording in a greenhouse amidst lettuce and Eiderstedt tales
The podcast "Deichmomente" has been a successful regional format from the St. Peter-Ording Tourism Office for several years: In calm, often personal conversations, host Simone Weilandt interviews personalities from St. Peter-Ording and the entire Eiderstedt peninsula — restaurateurs, beach managers, conservationists, farmers, thatched roofers, artists. In 2026, the team is venturing out for the first time with a Live Summer Tour, featuring four audience recordings, each in an unusual location in the region.
The second episode of the tour brings the audience into the greenhouse of "Eiderstedter Gartengemüse" — a regional organic farming business in Kotzenbüll, part of the municipality of Oldenswort. The podcast will be recorded amidst tomato plants, lettuce heads, and herb racks — an unusual backdrop for a live format that perfectly fits the theme.
The focus is on local production and gastronomy on the Eiderstedt peninsula:
The greenhouse can only accommodate 20 free tickets per date. Registration is online via the St. Peter-Ording Tourism Office website. Those who want to be there should be quick — tickets for the first leg were gone within 24 hours.
The first leg of the tour, on June 12, 2026, took place on the beach of St. Peter-Ording: Heinzi Hecke, long-time beach manager for the Tourism Office, shared stories from his professional life between surf, stilt houses, and tourist questions. Further legs will follow in July and August at other Eiderstedt locations.
Oldenswort and Kotzenbüll are located inland on the Eiderstedt peninsula, an almost square marsh peninsula between the Eider River, the North Sea, and the Bay of Husum. The region is predominantly agricultural, with thatched-roof farmhouses (so-called Haubarge), endless salt marshes, and some of the oldest dikes in Northern Germany. Eiderstedt belongs to the district of Nordfriesland and is one of the classic holiday regions on the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast.
As with the first leg in St. Peter-Ording, the concept in Kotzenbüll is also: live conversation, small audience, unusual setting. After the recording, there will be an opportunity to chat with the guests — a snack-and-chat atmosphere, as hinted at by the episode's subtitle.
