Bavarian Gemütlichkeit before a historic castle ruin — the seventh edition
Since 2020, the town of Dahme/Mark in southern Brandenburg has reinvented itself once a year: it celebrates its own Schloss-Oktoberfest against the backdrop of the historic castle ruin. The seventh edition will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The concept is simple: Bavarian Gemütlichkeit, traditional costume parade, brass band music, chicken, and Maß — all against the romantic stone wall of a Brandenburg castle ruin.
The Dahme/Mark castle ruin dates back to a late medieval moated castle, which was expanded into a Baroque palace in the 18th century. After fires and decay, an impressive stone wall backdrop remained. This is illuminated once a year and transformed with beer tents, festival tables, and a stage into an open-air festival hall — a setting that most Oktoberfests in Germany cannot offer.
The program follows the proven Oktoberfest classics: tapping ceremony in the afternoon with "O'zapft is!" by the mayor, followed by brass band music from the Dahme town band and a guest band from Bavaria. Stands selling chicken and pretzels, pork knuckles, Obatzda (cheese spread), and of course, fresh festival beer in Maßkrugs. In the evening, a cover band takes over with Wiesn hits and 80s tunes until the last Maß is served.
Dirndl and Lederhosen are welcome, but not mandatory. A traditional costume parade leads through the town to the festival grounds in the early evening. Local costume rental shops and several stores in Dahme offer traditional costumes for rent or purchase during the festival week.
Dahme/Mark is a small town in the Teltow-Fläming district with just under 4,000 inhabitants, located about 75 km south of Berlin. The town is situated in the historic region of Dahme-Heide and was long characterized by the woolen cloth trade. With the Schloss-Oktoberfest, it has created a brand that attracts visitors from all over Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, and Saxony every year.
The 7th Dahmer Schloss-Oktoberfest follows the proven format: afternoon tapping ceremony, brass band music from the Dahme town band together with a Bavarian guest band, traditional costume parade in the early evening, and from later in the evening, a Wiesn cover band and dancing.
The venue is the Dahme/Mark castle ruin — a spectacular open-air backdrop, illuminated as darkness falls.
