Berlin's ten-day festival for adventurous music and sound art, from Berghain to Volksbühne
The CTM Festival sees itself as the festival where Berlin annually reviews its own position as the world capital of electronic and experimental music. Founded in 1999 as "Club Transmediale" – originally as a sister festival to the media art event Transmediale – it is now an independent entity that shapes the capital's calendar for ten days.
Instead of concentrating on one location, CTM uses a network of venues between Mitte, Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg, and Wedding: Berghain for late-night club programs, Radialsystem for concerts in concert hall format, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz for intermedial stage works, plus RSO.Berlin, Morphine Raum, and Haus der Visionäre. Daytime conferences take place, among other places, at the DAADGALERIE in Kreuzberg.
CTM is more than a concert festival. The multi-day discourse program illuminates aesthetic, social, and political issues surrounding sound and music. In addition, there are the A2A Transmission Workshops "from artists for artists" and a one-day conference "Rethinking Music Ecosystems" together with Resident Advisor. A broadcast program with Refuge Worldwide carries the festival to the radio.
The 27th edition runs under the double motto "dissonate <> resonate," addressing a central question of our time: how dissonance, friction, and noise as artistic practice can lead to resonance, community, and change. The organizer is DISK – Initiative Bild & Ton e.V., located at Veteranenstraße 21, Berlin-Mitte.
The CTM Festival 2026 takes place from January 23 to February 1, 2026. The main concert phase is the week between Monday, January 26, and Saturday, January 31. Venues include Berghain, Radialsystem, RSO.Berlin, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Morphine Raum, and Haus der Visionäre. Discourse events will take place, among other places, at the DAADGALERIE in Kreuzberg.

The complete lineup will be released in several waves. The detailed schedule can be viewed at ctm-festival.de.
Festival passes and individual tickets are available via the website. Parts of the discourse and conference program (e.g., talks at DAADGALERIE) are free of charge.
The venues are spread across several districts. Berghain (Friedrichshain): S-Bahn Ostbahnhof. Radialsystem (Friedrichshain): S/U Ostbahnhof. Volksbühne (Mitte): U2 Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. A BVG day ticket or a 7-day pass is recommended, as several locations may be visited within one festival evening.
Individual tickets per program item and festival passes (Discourse Pass, Music Pass, Full Pass) are available via ctm-festival.de. Some discussions and conference formats are free of charge.
The Discourse program and workshops running during the day are key to the festival – they provide context for the evening concerts. Plan your entry to the late-night programs at Berghain well in advance: admission is limited.
