Artisan-brewed beers and gourmet specialities in the heart of Pinneberg
Pinneberg is the district capital of the Pinneberg district in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and lies in the Hamburg commuter belt — a city with a good 45,000 inhabitants, well connected to the Hanseatic city, yet independent in character and cityscape. The Craft Beer & Gourmet Festival has become a must-attend spring event since its premiere, bringing together artisan brewers and restaurateurs at Drosteiplatz every May.
The festival is curated with a "clear commitment to quality, diversity, and experience," as the organisers put it. Permanent partners include:
On the gourmet side, MiGaCon Hamburg, Wow Foodzzz, Street Gourmet, and Cook and Catering are ready — with pulled pork, loaded fries, couscous bowls, and game specialities. Wine from Weinkontor St. Kilian, coffee from Het rollend Café, and non-alcoholic alternatives complement the offerings.
On Sunday, May 17th, Pinneberg's city centre will be open for shopping between 1 PM and 6 PM — the festival runs concurrently with the Fahrradfrühling (Bicycle Spring) at the town hall, which starts as early as 12 PM. This makes the festival part of an extended city weekend that goes far beyond the actual beer festival.
Behind the festival are Markus Meier (Lampenfieber Veranstaltungen GmbH) and Marco Hurtig (Pinnauer Provinzbrauerei). The mix of city marketing connection and private organiser know-how shapes the format. In the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Pinneberg is thus one of the few medium-sized cities that operates its own regular, high-quality craft beer festival.
The 2026 edition marks the festival's 6th run, continuing the established concept: artisan breweries, gourmet street food, and a central venue right in the heart of Pinneberg. The mix of regulars — Pinnauer Provinzbrauerei, Landgang, Lille, Vagabund — and new acts is complemented by international touches (e.g., Belgian beers).
The highlight of the weekend is the Sunday opening for shopping on May 17th: From 1 PM to 6 PM, Pinneberg's city centre shops will be open, and from 12 PM, the Fahrradfrühling (Bicycle Spring) will be taking place at the town hall. The festival is part of an extended city weekend with family activities.
