Two days of country music and line dance east of Berlin
When the Ostrich Mountain Country Dancers (OMCD) e.V. invite you, line dance fans from all over Berlin and Brandenburg come to Strausberg. The club, whose name is derived from Strausberg + Country Dancers (Strauß = Ostrich), has been the center of the East Brandenburg country scene for years. The annual Country-Fest on the last weekend of August is its showcase: two days of live music, line dance, and workshops, open to all, free admission.
Country and Western dance has astonishing fan scenes in eastern Germany. Line dance — the choreographed group dances to country hits — is a hobby practiced by thousands of Brandenburg residents. Country bands from Germany and the Czech Republic provide the live music. The Country-Fest Strausberg combines both: concerts for listeners, a large dance floor for participants. Those who just want to watch are equally welcome.
Strausberg is the district town of the Märkisch-Oderland district and is located on the eastern outskirts of Berlin. The town is famous for its Straussee and for the tram to Berlin (the historic "Straussberger Bahn" S5). The Sport- und Erholungspark (SEP) is a large area on the outskirts of town with halls, outdoor spaces, and club buildings — the ideal setting for a relaxed country festival with indoor and outdoor components. Haus 13 is the OMCD club headquarters.
Anyone who has never attended a country festival will be surprised: there is a very unique subculture here with its own codes — cowboy hats, bandanas, boots, plaid shirts — and its own dance discipline. It is familial, friendly, alcohol-tolerant, and filled with pride in detailed authenticity. A celebration of the line dance community, embedded in a sleepy summer weekend day in Strausberg.
The Country-Fest 2026 in Strausberg will be held on August 29 and 30, 2026, at the Sport- und Erholungspark (SEP) Strausberg. The organizer is the Ostrich Mountain Country Dancers (OMCD) e.V., for whom the club house "Haus 13" serves as a home.
The festival is open to all — line dance fans, country music lovers, and curious families are invited. The mix of live concerts, dance floor, and workshop offerings suits both professionals and beginners.
Detailed program and workshop registration will be handled directly by OMCD and via the Stadtwerke event website stadtwerkegruppe-strausberg.de/veranstaltungen.
Free admission. Food, drinks, and market goods paid for individually. Workshops often free or for a small contribution.
