City Move — Bielefeld's Sports Day
In 2026, the City Move will replace the former 'run & roll' format and become the new major Sports Day in Bielefeld. Organized by Bielefeld Marketing GmbH in cooperation with the Stadtsportbund Bielefeld, it combines sporting competitions, open participation activities, and club life on a Sunday in September — free of charge, accessible, right in the heart of Bielefeld.
Date, Location, and Opening Hours 2026
Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Central venues:
- Ravensberger Park — Main stage, club presentations, Sports Badge stations
- Wiesenbad — Water sports activities, family program
- Seidensticker-Halle — Indoor sports, demonstrations
The three locations are within walking distance and connected by a joint program concept.
The Runs in Detail
Three distances for three target groups — from crawling babies to ambitious runners:
- School Run (2.7 km) — Start 10:00 AM. For students born in 2007 and younger. Free. Online registration until September 4, 2026.
- Bambini Run (490 m) — Start 11:15 AM. 3–4 year olds with a companion, 5–6 year olds independently. Free. Registration until September 13, 10:15 AM.
- 10-Kilometer Run — Start 12:00 PM. Official age categories with timing. €15 entry fee. Registration until September 4, 2026.
Online registration opens on Friday, April 3, 2026, 10:00 AM via the my.raceresult.com platform.
Club Presentations and Sports Badge
The second focus: the diverse club life of Bielefeld. Dozens of sports clubs from the city and region will present themselves — from classics like gymnastics, athletics, and football to trend sports and inclusive offerings. At the stations, visitors can try out sports directly.
Anyone interested can also earn the German Sports Badge (Deutsches Sportabzeichen) on the same day — an official award from the DOSB (German Olympic Sports Confederation) that tests endurance, speed, strength, and coordination.
From 'run & roll' to City Move
The predecessor format 'run & roll' had been established as Bielefeld's running and sports day for many years. In 2026, the city is transitioning to a broader format with stronger club participation and more hands-on activities — the City Move is open to the entire city, from toddlers to seniors, from couch potatoes to marathon runners.
Bielefeld as a Sports City
With around 340,000 inhabitants, Bielefeld is the central city of Ostwestfalen-Lippe and home to traditional clubs like Arminia Bielefeld (football), TuS Brake, and numerous swimming, gymnastics, and athletics clubs. The City Move makes this vibrant sports scene visible in the city center for one day.
