Stadtfest and Kirmes in Espelkamp's city center with approx. 30 rides and Sunday shopping
Espelkamp is an East Westphalian peculiarity: the city was deliberately laid out in the heath after World War II to accommodate displaced persons and refugees. Today, it has around 25,000 inhabitants and has developed into an economic center in the Mühlenkreis (Minden-Lübbecke district). Unlike historically grown cities, Espelkamp has a modern, spacious city center with clear axes and large squares — ideal conditions for a large Stadtfest that brings together residents from different parts of the city.
The City-Fest Espelkamp offers a classic Stadtfest program: Kirmes with around 30 rides (bumper cars, carousels, children's carousels, swing boats, floating balls, and Kiddie Bungee), live concerts on two evenings, family day on Saturday afternoon, children's flea market on Saturday morning, traditional ham breakfast on Friday, and of course, Sunday shopping. Free admission to the Kirmes; only the evening concerts at the Bürgerhaus cost €5 per person.
The City-Fest starts on Friday, September 25th, 2026, traditionally with the ham breakfast in the morning — an East Westphalian specialty where farmer's ham, bread, cheese, and coffee are served in a convivial atmosphere. In the evening, the Party Oldie Company with DJ Michael Vortmann will perform from 7 PM at the Bürgerhaus: 70s hits, Schlager, and rock classics. The evening concludes with fireworks at 9 PM.
Saturday, September 26th, 2026 begins at 9 AM with the children's flea market — children sell their own toys, a popular program item. From 2 PM to 6 PM, it's Family Day with reduced prices at rides and food stalls, plus a children's program on stage. In the evening, the party band United Four with DJ Vortmann will play at the Bürgerhaus (from 7 PM, admission €5).
On Sunday, September 27th, 2026, Espelkamp's shops will be open from 1 PM to 6 PM for Sunday shopping — the ideal day for a family outing with shopping, a visit to the Kirmes, and a coffee stroll. Parking is available on Gerhard-Wetzel-Straße, Trakehner Straße, and Isenstedter Straße.
The city of Espelkamp is hosting the City-Fest 2026 from Friday, September 25th to Sunday, September 27th, 2026. The city center will transform into a full-fledged Kirmes with about 30 rides, plus stage concerts at the Bürgerhaus, fireworks, a children's flea market, a ham breakfast, and Sunday shopping. Three days of compact East Westphalian city festival with a clear family focus and evening party program.
