Arts and crafts, mulled wine, and a festively illuminated palace on the third Advent weekend in the palace park
Biesdorf Palace is one of the few historic villas in East Berlin. Built in 1868 by Heinrich Quistorp and later acquired by Werner von Siemens, the neoclassical manor house today serves as a center for art and public space — a district cultural institution with exhibitions, lectures, and events. Surrounding it is the expansive palace park with old trees, a small lake, and a playground.
The Christmas Market around Biesdorf Palace celebrated its premiere in 2021 and has since established itself as a fixture in the district. In terms of concept, it is one of Berlin's youngest Christmas markets — but thanks to the extraordinary setting (palace and park) and the ambitious cultural program, it is already among the most charming destinations for families from Marzahn-Hellersdorf and Lichtenberg.
Biesdorf is one of the more rural localities in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district. Unlike the directly neighboring prefabricated housing estates of Marzahn or Hellersdorf, Biesdorf has largely retained its old structures: single-family homes, farms, an old village church, and the palace with its park. The Christmas market underscores this character — it is not a large commercial event, but a deliberately quiet, family-friendly district market.
The sixth edition of the Christmas Market is expected to take place on the third Advent weekend of 2026 in the Schlosspark Biesdorf (Alt-Biesdorf 55, 12683 Berlin). The organizer is Schloss Biesdorf in cooperation with the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district office. The exact date will be published in autumn on schlossbiesdorf.de.
