Wetterau Half-Timbered Town Celebrates

The Butzbach Old Town Festival is the most important event of the Hessian half-timbered town in the Wetterau district. From September 4th to 6th, 2026, the 43rd edition will take place in the historic city center, with the market square, Kirchstraße, and surrounding areas serving as stage locations.

Organizers: Altstadtfreunde Butzbach e.V.

The festival is organized by the Altstadtfreunde Butzbach e.V. – a volunteer association of citizens committed to the preservation and revitalization of Butzbach's old town. The Altstadtfest is the association's most important self-organized event and the primary annual source of funding for restoration and maintenance work.

Weekly Market Relocates

During the festival days, the weekly and farmers' market will move from its usual spot in the market square to Kirchplatz – a logistical detail that shows how city life is woven into the festival period. Residents and market vendors adapt to the festival week.

Program with Local Bands and Associations

As with many Hessian city festivals, the program is based on local bands, association performances, and catering by associations. Several open-air stages are spread across the festival mile. The exact stage program and band names will be communicated before the festival begins on altstadtfreunde-butzbach.de and stadt-butzbach.de.
