Emsdetten's September Festival

The Emsdettener September is the annual highlight in the event calendar of this North Münsterland town. Organized by the Verkehrsverein Emsdetten e.V., the market square and pedestrian zone are transformed into an open city stage with music, street food, a flea market, and a family program for three days.

Two Stages with Live Music

Live entertainment runs on two stages in the city center — cover bands, regional bands, DJ sets, and dance acts. The mix is broad: mainstream pop for the masses, Schlager hits for older audiences, regional acts with their own repertoire, plus dance performances by local schools and clubs. Program starts on Friday at 6:00 PM, Saturday from midday.

Indoor Flea Market on Saturday

A hallmark of the Emsdettener September: the indoor flea market on Saturday in one of the town's halls. Instead of classic open-air, dusty goods: antiques, used books, collectibles, toys, clothing — to browse protected from any weather.

Sunday Shopping

Sunday features shopping hours from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM — Emsdetten's downtown shops and specialty retailers open their doors for strollers, who can enjoy a browse between live music performances.

Food Stalls and Family Program

In addition to classic snack stands (sausages, fries, potato pancakes, crêpes, sweets), there are increasingly international food trucks — from burgers to Asian specialties to Latin street food. For families: a children's area with a bouncy castle, carousel, face painting station, and small game stalls.

Emsdetten in the Steinfurt District

With around 38,000 inhabitants, Emsdetten is one of the largest towns in the Steinfurt district, north of Münster. The town has a vibrant city center with a classic pedestrian zone, where the Emsdettener September fits in perfectly — not a mega-festival, but the unifying summer-autumn celebration of the region.
