Medieval festival at the castle ruins in the Oberallgäu region
The Burgfest Sulzberg transforms the Sulzberg castle ruins, high above the hilly landscape of the Oberallgäu region, into a vibrant medieval setting. The festival is organized by the association Burgfreunde Sulzberg e.V., dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of the historic site. The motto is 'Life and Work in the Middle Ages.'
During the festival days, craftspeople demonstrate their skills, and a small medieval market offers historical goods and Allgäu specialties. The backdrop of the castle ruins, nestled in the gentle pre-Alpine landscape, creates a special atmosphere between history and nature.
The Burgfest is extremely family-friendly: children can try pottery, dragon archery, get their faces painted, and touch armor and weapons. For adults, there are show fights, Highland Games, and axe throwing, along with music. Interactive hands-on stations make history accessible for all age groups.
