Inclusive cultural festival on the Baltic Sea beach
The Buntes Meer Festival has been held in Warnemünde since 2022 and is organized by the association Rostocker für Inklusion und gesellschaftliche Teilhabe (Rostockers for Inclusion and Social Participation). It explicitly sees itself as an inclusive cultural festival: people with and without disabilities, from different generations and walks of life, should be able to participate equally. Admission is free, and the grounds are designed for accessibility.
The venues are the Kurhausgarten and the beach of the Baltic Sea resort. On several stages, guests can experience concerts, children's readings, performances, creative workshops, and interactive art stands. A dedicated program day focuses on the topic of inclusion with discussion rounds on art, sports, and education. Thus, the festival combines artistic programming with social concerns.
Warnemünde, the Baltic Sea resort of the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, offers an open backdrop with its Kurhausgarten and beach. The Buntes Meer Festival complements the coastal summer event program with a format that consistently combines culture and participation, and is supported by, among others, the Amadeu Antonio Foundation.
The Buntes Meer Festival 2026 invites you from July 24th to 26th to the Kurhausgarten and the beach of Warnemünde. On six stages, there will be around 80 program items – concerts, children's readings, performances, workshops, and interactive art stands. The lineup includes Sportfreunde Stiller, Moop Mama, Juli, Monsters of Liedermaching, Afrob & Ferris MC, Deine Cousine, and Denyo & Mad Beginner Soundsystem, among others. Sunday is dedicated to the theme of inclusion and will be accompanied by discussion rounds on art, sports, and education. Admission is free.
