About Bunte Hafenmeile
Bunte Hafenmeile — edition 2026
The 2026 edition fits into the musical choreography of the 837th Hamburg Port Anniversary. Over three days, around 80–100 acts will perform on the 10+ stages along the two-kilometer harbor mile in a dense concert program. The central stage at the Landungsbrücken offers the most musically ambitious program (Knust and Logo Hamburg book the acts), while smaller stages at the eastern and western ends of the mile focus on specific genres (Shanty stage, Metal stage, Schlager stage).
In parallel, the tugboat ballet and the inbound/outbound parades of the Port Anniversary are taking place. The fireworks "Elbe in Concert" on Friday and Saturday evenings provide two prominent program highlights. Concerts start daily from 11 AM, with the last sets ending around 11 PM.

Two Kilometers of Concert Mile
The Bunte Hafenmeile spans two kilometers along the Elbe riverbank, from St. Pauli Hafenstraße to Baumwall. In between lies the Landungsbrücken – Hamburg's harbor landmark with the large piers for Hadag ferries and harbor tours. This is precisely where the concert action is concentrated, complemented by extensive stalls with street food, bars, and amusement rides.
Over Ten Stages with All Genres
The program spectrum is deliberately broad: Shanty choirs and sea shanties (classic for the harbor, several stages), Schlager stars (medium-sized stages), Rock and Pop bands (central stage at Landungsbrücken), Heavy Metal acts (a dedicated stage further east), and Jazz/Acoustic in smaller settings. The central stage is programmed in cooperation with Hamburg's live clubs Knust and Logo Hamburg – both are among the city's most traditional concert venues and guarantee a musically ambitious program.
Street Food, Amusement Rides, Museum Ships
Around 100 street food stalls along the mile offer everything from classic fish sandwiches (Bismarck, Matjes, Bratfisch) to exotic noodle dishes, crêpes, fries, and ice cream. Amusement rides – a small Ferris wheel, bumper cars, a children's carousel – are spread across several locations. The museum ships Rickmer Rickmers (1896 barkentine) and Cap San Diego (1961 cargo ship) open their decks for the weekend; water ski shows take place several times daily in front of the Landungsbrücken.
A Separate Program in the Hamburg-Mitte District
While the spectacular program points of Hamburg Port Anniversary (inbound parade, tugboat ballet, fireworks "Elbe in Concert") stand as individual events, the Bunte Hafenmeile is the continuous musical format – three days of concerts, with free admission, no seat reservations, and a relaxed strolling character. Those who work their way through the mile between schlager and metal will experience a cross-section of the German live music scene within two kilometers.
A Summer Brand in the State of Hamburg
The Bunte Hafenmeile is part of Hamburg Port Anniversary and is not held without it. It has established itself as its own brand in Hamburg's festival calendar because it offers a musical program with a consistency and scale that no other free festival in Hamburg can match. In the St. Pauli and Neustadt districts, the stages become the musical center of the city for three days.
