Büdelsdorf — the young city with industrial history

Büdelsdorf is located directly north of Rendsburg on the Eider river in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The municipality only received city rights in the year 2000 — making it one of the youngest cities in Germany. The town was shaped by Carlshütte, a large ironworks of the 19th and 20th centuries, whose historic factory grounds are now partly used as an art venue (NordArt exhibition). The annual town festival celebrates this special identity.

2026 — back to the classic format

After the big 25th-anniversary three-day grand festival in 2025, the regular weekend format returns in 2026. Scheduled for June 27th and 28th: a two-day town festival centered on the market square, complemented by surrounding streets.

The concept

• Live music on the main stage at the market square — bands from the region, supplemented by national acts
• Culinary delights with snack stands, food trucks, and cake stands from local clubs
• Family activities: bouncy castle, children's carousel, craft activities
• Club presence: sports clubs, fire department, local history society
• Sunday shopping in the shops in the town center

Community focus as a characteristic

The town festival in Büdelsdorf is deliberately a community event — not a highly commercialized large-scale event like in neighboring cities such as Rendsburg or Kiel, but a format where the approximately 10,000 residents of Büdelsdorf meet and celebrate their city. This communal atmosphere is what makes the festival charming.
