Summer festival of the Siedlervereinigung — Bobby Car race, nostalgic carousel, and lantern parade
The Siedlerfest Knetzgau is the annual summer festival of the Siedlervereinigung Knetzgau e.V. — an association that plays a significant role in settlement and neighborhood care in many Lower Franconian communities. The venue is the Siedlerheim at Schultheißstraße 2 in Knetzgau.
Knetzgau is a market town with around 6,000 inhabitants in the Haßberge district, located on a large loop of the Main River between Haßfurt and Schweinfurt. The municipality includes several districts in addition to the main town. The Main River, the vineyards of the Haßberge foothills, and the Main plain shape the landscape.
The first day of the festival begins in the early afternoon with a classic event for children: the Bobby Car race on Bernhauser Straße. Starting at 1:30 PM, children race their Bobby Cars; at 2:30 PM, the coffee and cake buffet opens. From 4:00 PM, the nostalgic carousel entertains the youngest attendees. In the evening, around 6:30 PM, the race awards ceremony takes place, followed by the evening celebration with catering and musical entertainment.
On the second day, the coffee and cake buffet with cold dishes reopens at 2:00 PM. Throughout the day, there will be a tombola, a children's program, and the Bungee Run from the Kreisjugendring Haßberge. The highlight of the evening is the lantern parade at dusk — a local tradition where children parade through the festival grounds with homemade lanterns.
The festival is organized by the Siedlervereinigung Knetzgau e.V. ([email protected]). Such settlement associations often originated in many Lower Franconian communities from post-war settlement projects and have evolved into important pillars of local neighborhood and community culture.
The Siedlerfest is a typical village summer festival with a clear family focus. Free admission, catering at moderate prices, and program structures explicitly aimed at children and families. It is one of the many small summer festivals that shape community life in Lower Franconian towns.
The 2026 edition of the Siedlerfest Knetzgau will be held on the first weekend of August — Saturday, August 1st, and Sunday, August 2nd, 2026 — at the Siedlerheim in Schultheißstraße 2. The organizer is the Siedlervereinigung Knetzgau e.V., which organizes the festival with volunteer helpers and in cooperation with the Kreisjugendring Haßberge.
