Fire Brigade Festival in Franconian Switzerland

The Brückenfest of the Wiesentfels-Loch Volunteer Fire Brigade is the annual club festival of the local brigade in the municipality of Aufseß, located in the heart of Franconian Switzerland in the Bayreuth district. As the name suggests, it is celebrated at the bridge over the Aufseß, the river that gives the municipality its name.

Fire brigade festivals are an integral part of village life in Franconia: with snacks, freshly tapped beer, and convivial togetherness, the village community and guests from neighboring towns meet. The Brückenfest is one of several festivals with which the small villages around Aufseß – including the sports festival (Sportlerkerwa), the Aufseß church festival (Kirchweih), and the Christmas market (Weihnachtsmarkt) – maintain their community life throughout the year.
