Pentecost at the Sports Ground

The Pfingstsportfest TuS Töpen is the annual major event of the Turn- und Sportverein Töpen 1906. The venue is the club's own Sportplatz Töpen in the municipality of Töpen, a border town in the far northeast of Bavaria (Hof district, on the border with Thuringia). During the Pentecost weekend, the festival shapes village life: sports, a festival marquee, and a program for families, club members, and guests from the entire Hof region.

Fun Run and Darts Tournament

The programmatic highlights of the Pentecost Sports Festival are the Volkslauf (fun run) – a classic regional road race with categories for children, youth, women, and men – and the darts tournament, which for several years has been one of the most competitive club tournaments in the region. In addition, other sporting competitions from the TuS departments will take place, with trophy awards on Pentecost Monday.

Festival Marquee and Catering

The TuS Töpen festival marquee is open throughout the Pentecost weekend. Catering includes classic Upper Franconian delicacies (Schmankerln): bratwurst, grilled steaks, Schäuferla, pretzels, regional beer specialties, and soft drinks. On Pentecost Sunday, the traditional shared festival lunch is the focus, and on Monday, the family finale with trophy presentation.

Töpen in the Franconian Forest Foothills

Töpen is located in the far northeast of Upper Franconia, on the historic inner-German border – today a quiet rural area, traversed by the Franconian Forest foothills. For over 120 years, TuS Töpen 1906 has been the central club in the municipality, bringing generations together under one festival marquee roof with the Pentecost Sports Festival.
