Kick-off to Advent at the Salt Museum
The Bratapfelfest is a small, atmospheric Advent event hosted by the Mecklenburg Salt Museum. The occasion is the start of the Advent season: warm baked apples and apple specialties are prepared and tasted, a small creative market showcases regional crafts, and music accompanies the afternoon and evening.
The centerpiece is the namesake baked apple — classically prepared with marzipan, raisins, nuts, and cinnamon. In addition, there is apple punch, apple cake, and other autumnal-winter specialties. The small market in the museum courtyard features crafts, Advent decorations, and artisanal products from the Vorpommern-Rügen district. Musical performances — often acoustic sets with North German folk songs or Advent carols — accompany the festival.
Bad Sülze is a historic brine spa town in the Vorpommern-Rügen district. The Bratapfelfest turns the Mecklenburg Salt Museum into a meeting point for the residents of the small town and surrounding communities. It complements the museum's annual program — from the Dahlia Show in September and the Festival of Lights in October to the winter Advent opening.
The Bratapfelfest Bad Sülze will continue its tradition in 2026 as the Advent opening at the Mecklenburg Salt Museum. The event begins in the afternoon in the museum courtyard and interior spaces. The focus is on warm baked apples with classic filling, apple punch, and other autumnal-winter specialties. A small creative market showcases regional crafts and Advent decorations; musical performances — from acoustic sets to Advent carol programs — accompany the festival into the evening hours. The exact date will be announced by the Mecklenburg Salt Museum via its event page and by the town of Bad Sülze.
Program details and the final times will be published on the event page of the Salt Museum (salzmuseum-mecklenburg.de).
Admission to the museum courtyard is usually free. Baked apples, punch, food, and market goods are available for purchase on-site. Visiting the museum's regular exhibition rooms is accessible with the usual admission fee.
