Five days of spring funfair in the Main-Tauber district
Boxberg is located between Tauberbischofsheim and Bad Mergentheim in the northern Main-Tauber district (AGS 08128) in northern Baden-Württemberg. The Boxberger Maimarkt is one of the largest spring festivals in the region, combining classic funfair character with club life, music, and a trade exhibition. The venue is the Umpfertalhalle at Seebuckel — adjacent to the festival grounds with fairground rides, a beer tent, and a stage.
The traditional corporate charity run for the benefit of Jugendhilfe Creglingen e.V. kicks off on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026. Companies from the Bauland and Umpfertal regions will send runners in small stages, accompanied by live music from the Fröhliche Dorfmusikanten and the band Grumis. An evening that combines athleticism and charitable commitment.
Thursday, May 14th, 2026, marks the official market opening around noon with a parade. On the festival grounds, the vintage tractor show will feature Lanz-Bulldogs, Eicher-Diesel, and other historic tractors — a magnet for gearhead fans from all over the Bauland region. In the afternoon from 4:30 PM, the Viva Brasil – Dance Show will provide entertainment with Latin American dances and drum rhythms.
Friday, May 15th, is dedicated to the seniors' afternoon and the club evening with the band Würzbuam and entertainer Walter Scholz — a classic of the Franconian-Baden festival scene. Saturday, May 16th, is children's afternoon: Clown Lothar Lempp will provide laughter, the band Balbachtaler will play in the festival tent, and from 2 PM to 6 PM, there will be discounted prices for amusement rides. A special bus will run late at night for transport home — on Friday and Saturday.
On Sunday, May 17th, the Maimarkt concludes with a traditional Weißwurst breakfast, performances by local dance groups, and an appearance by hit singer and TV personality LIANE at 5 PM. Boxberg's local retailers will open for the Sunday shopping event — a welcome occasion for a family outing.
A special feature is the Maimarkt beer, brewed exclusively for the festival by the Herbsthäuser Brewery. Parallel to the Maimarkt, the exhibition “Carmen Coupé — Touch Beyond" will showcase contemporary art in Boxberg from May 4th to 17th, 2026. A market, flea markets, and archery complete the program. The Boxberger Maimarkt is more than just a Volksfest (public festival); it is the annual calling card of a town that upholds tradition and community.
From the charity run on Wednesday, the vintage tractor show on Thursday, seniors' afternoon with the Würzbuam on Friday, children's afternoon with the Balbachtaler and reduced ride prices on Saturday, to the festival finale with Weißwurst breakfast and LIANE on Sunday.
Free admission to the market and festival grounds. Amusement rides at fairground prices, discounted on Saturday from 2 PM to 6 PM. Food and drinks at festival prices.
Boxberg is located on the A 81 (Würzburg–Heilbronn) motorway, Boxberg exit. By train via Lauda or Bad Mergentheim, then by VGMT bus lines. A short walk from the parking lot to the Seebuckel.
