One of the largest summer festivals in Saarland

The Bostalsee Lake Festival has been the summer classic in the St. Wendel region for over two decades. The 2026 edition is already the 23rd — and it has grown into a three-day multi-genre open air event with over 100,000 visitors, transforming the entire Bostalsee into a single festival ground. Free admission, four stages, market mile, drone show, fireworks — the concept works.

Four stages, four worlds

Musical diversity is the centerpiece. The Sparkasse Mainstage is the largest stage with pop and electronic acts. On the Bitburger Live-on-Stage, it rocks — in 2026 with the Coldplay tribute band VIVA LA VIDA and the Peter Maffay tribute band Sieben Brücken. On the Staudamm Stage, it's more relaxed — reggae and soul, in 2026 with the Saarbrücken reggae formation Riddim Posse. And the Bosener Mühle becomes the acoustic stage with jazz and singer-songwriter acts.

The spectacular drone show

On Saturday evening, Bostalsee experiences one of the most impressive moments of the Saarland summer: a choreographed music drone show, where hundreds of LED drones fly in formation over the lake to live music — images, logos, figures, kinetic sculptures of light. A modern alternative to classic fireworks, quieter, more ecological, highly technical.

Sunday: musical fireworks

On Sunday evening, the classic musical fireworks follow — synchronized to a composition played over the lake's loudspeakers. Thousands of people sit on the meadows around the lake, on the dam, on the loungers, watching the spectacle.

The market mile along the illuminated lake path

Over the three festival days, the market mile opens along the illuminated lake path: regional artisans, food stalls from Saarland and the greater region, European street artists, acrobats, and magicians performing between the stalls. The lido remains open, boat rentals are available, and the festival is spread over several kilometers along the lake.

The Bostalsee — Southwest Germany's largest reservoir

With its 120 hectares of water surface, the Bostalsee is the largest reservoir in Southwest Germany. Created in 1979 as a recreational area, it is located in the district of St. Wendel in northern Saarland, nestled in the hilly landscape of the Hochwald. Today, it is one of Saarland's most important tourism locations with Center Parcs, sandy beaches, a surf school, a high-ropes course, and a 7-kilometer circular path around the water.
