Seven Years of Open Air Against the Jesuit Backdrop

BOArocks — Büren Open Air is one of the most unusual open-air festivals in the Hochsauerland region. Organized by Stadtmarketing Büren in cooperation with the Dortmund-based promoter a.s.s. concerts & promotion, the festival has become one of the region's most significant live events since its premiere in 2018. The 7th edition is scheduled for June 26 and 27, 2026. The venue is the festival meadow in the Almeauen, directly against the spectacular backdrop of the former Jesuit College of Büren — a festival location that makes Büren's baroque cityscape an immediate stage backdrop.

The 2026 Genre Contrast — Heavy Metal vs. Pop

For 2026, the organizers are touting the "strongest genre contrast in BOArocks history":

• Friday, June 26, 2026 — Heavy Metal Night: The headliner is Powerwolf — the Saarbrücken-based power metal band, with their fire-breathing organs and thundering pyro spectacles, is considered one of the most theatrical live acts in the German metal scene. Support: Warkings (Austrian symphonic power metal project with masked four-king characters). Opener: Induction. Admission 5:00 PM.
• Saturday, June 27, 2026 — Sarah Connor: Performance by the German pop icon with her 'Wilde Nächte – Open Air 2026' tour. Sarah Connor has sold over 10 million records and is one of the most successful German-speaking singers of the last 25 years — from 'From Sarah with Love' to 'Vincent'. Support & opener to be announced before the festival. Admission 5:30 PM.

This bold programming is what makes BOArocks unique: a classic city open-air festival that isn't tied to one style but consciously brings together two different audience groups on one festival weekend.

Tickets are sold on a daily basis, offering program flexibility for guests:

Camping in the Almeauen

Camping is available from June 26 to 28 (meaning one night after the Saturday concert), priced at €10 per person, including full infrastructure very close to the festival meadow. This makes BOArocks attractive for visitors from all over the Sauerland, Lippe, Paderborn region, and the Hessian Waldecker Land.

Shuttle Concept

Logistically, the festival relies on shuttle services:

• Shuttle buses from the Büren industrial area to the festival meadow — €2 round trip
• Regional bus lines with increased frequency — €6 round trip

On-site parking in Büren is severely limited during the festival — shuttles are the recommended option.

Main Sponsor — Bürener Maschinenfabrik

Remarkable for a rock/pop festival: The main sponsor is Bürener Maschinenfabrik, one of the defining medium-sized industrial companies in the Paderborn region. This deep local connection is key to BOArocks' success — it's not a festival from a corporate portfolio but is supported by the city marketing and local economy.

Büren — Town in the Paderborn Region

Büren is a small town in the Paderborn district with around 21,000 inhabitants, located on the Alme river at the transition between the Paderborn plateau and the Sauerland. Büren is primarily known for the former Jesuit College from the 18th century — one of Westphalia's most important baroque buildings. The Almeauen in front of the college turn this backdrop into the festival stage — an almost unbeatable visual combination that BOArocks deliberately stages.
