ATP 500 grass court tournament in the English Garden
The BMW Open is one of the oldest tennis tournaments in Germany and is held at the grounds of the Münchner Tennis- und Turnierclub Iphitos (MTTC Iphitos), which was founded in 1892 and is located in the northern English Garden. The club is known for its family atmosphere and long tennis history. The facility has seventeen clay courts and three indoor hard courts.
Since its upgrade to ATP 500 category, the BMW Open is one of the most important clay court tournaments on the international tennis calendar. The tournament is traditionally held in April and serves as preparation for the European clay court season for many players. The main draw competition includes 32 singles and 16 doubles pairings, with prize money exceeding 2.5 million euros.
Top players compete at the BMW Open year after year. German top player Alexander Zverev is regularly among the seeded favorites in Munich. The tournament combines top-level sport with the special flair of a traditional club facility in the heart of the Bavarian capital.
Its location on Aumeisterweg on the edge of the English Garden makes the BMW Open a special experience: open-air tennis on clay in one of Munich's greenest corners, the capital of the state of Bavaria.
From April 13-19, 2026, the 110th edition of the BMW Open was held on the clay courts of MTTC Iphitos, with the qualifying competition taking place on April 11 and 12. The top seed was Germany's Alexander Zverev, who entered as world number three.
In the singles final, the second-seeded American Ben Shelton defeated Italy's Flavio Cobolli 6-2, 7-5. The doubles title went to Germans Jakob Schnaitter and Mark Wallner, who beat Théo Arribagé and Albano Olivetti from France 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), [12-10]. The main draw comprised 32 singles and 16 doubles pairings, with total prize money of €2,561,110.
The MTTC Iphitos grounds at Aumeisterweg 10 in the English Garden can be reached by subway (U6 Studentenstadt or Freimann) and bus lines. Travel by public transport is recommended.
