May Festival in Prignitz

The Blüthen Horse, Hobby, and Farmers' Market is the largest folk festival (Volksfest) of the spring season in the municipality of Karstädt, located in the northwesternmost part of Brandenburg in the Prignitz district, near the A14 motorway. The Blüthen district, with its traditional riding grounds, has been the festive backdrop for years. On May 1st, 2026, the market opens its gates from 10 am to 5 pm — with free admission.

Over 70 Exhibitors — from Equestrian Gear to Jam

More than 70 exhibitors offer a diverse range of products on the riding grounds and its outdoor areas:

• Equestrian Supplies — Saddles, bridles, horse blankets, riding apparel
• Animal Husbandry & Farm Supplies — Stable equipment, animal feed, tools
• Plants & Garden Culture — Perennials, vegetable seedlings, herbs, berry bushes
• Regional Products — Honey, sausage, cheese, spirits, baked goods
• Textiles & Crafts — Wool, knitwear, quilts, children's clothing
• Hobby and Flea Market Stalls — from model building to antiques

Newcastle Disease — Poultry Ban 2026

Due to the current animal disease situation with numerous outbreaks of Newcastle disease in Brandenburg, no poultry or pigeons may be sold, traded, or exhibited at the market in 2026. This measure serves to protect regional poultry farming and is supervised by the veterinary office. Horses, sheep, goats, and other livestock are not affected.

Organizing Committee

The market is organized by the Municipality of Karstädt and the Blüthen Association (Förderverein Blüthen e.V.). Both partners have organized the market for years with great volunteer effort. Proceeds go towards the maintenance of the riding grounds and local club activities.

Location Blüthen

Blüthen is a district of the municipality of Karstädt in the Prignitz district. The village is located directly on the A14 and is therefore easily accessible from Berlin (approx. 1 hour 45 minutes) and Hamburg (approx. 2 hours). The riding grounds are located on the outskirts of the village with good parking facilities.
