24 Years of Weindorf in the Shadow of the Town Hall

Bietigheim-Bissingen is a Swabian twin city in the Ludwigsburg district – formed in 1975 by the merger of the two previously independent towns of Bietigheim and Bissingen. While the Bietigheim district is famous for its traditional Pferdemarkt (horse market, dating back to 1769), Bissingen has created its own autumn event: the Bissinger Weindorf. First held in 2002, its 24th edition in 2026 has made it a firm fixture of Swabian wine culture. The ARGE Bissinger Weindorf, an association of local vintners and restaurateurs, coordinates the three-day festival at Bissingen's Rathausplatz.

Three Evenings of Weindorf, Stage in Front of the Blauen Bock

The event format is classic: on three evenings – Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – stalls made of wooden huts and pergola structures will be set up around Bissingen's Rathausplatz, collectively forming the "Weindorf". The focus is on wine from the region's wineries – the Ludwigsburg district is part of the Württemberg wine-growing region (Mittlerer Neckar) and is famous for Trollinger, Lemberger, and Riesling. Gastronomy: BIETIGHEIMER Brauhaus, Partyservice Motz, Escape Cafe-Bistro, Creperie Tricolore. The stage in front of the "Blauen Bock" is the musical center – pop, party classics, and cover bands provide the atmosphere.

Parallel Event to the Bietigheimer Pferdemarkt

A special feature: The Bissinger Weindorf 2026 takes place parallel to the Bietigheimer Pferdemarkt – meaning simultaneously with Bietigheim's largest city festival. This temporal parallel has grown historically: those seeking the loud, big Volksfest go to the Pferdemarkt. Those who prefer the quieter Weindorf format go to the Bissinger Weindorf. The two events complement each other – and the shuttle bus between the districts (sponsored by Spillmann and Bausparkasse Wüstenrot) allows visitors to attend both.

Sponsorship and City Identity

The close integration of the festival with the Bietigheim-Bissingen city structures is noteworthy: sponsors include Bietigheimer Wohnungsbaugesellschaft, Stadtwerke Bietigheim-Bissingen, Hofmeister Möbel, and VR-Bank Ludwigsburg – all strong local brands. This makes the Weindorf more than just a festival: it is a symbol of Bissingen's district identity in relation to the larger Bietigheim, a self-assertion against its dominant sister. The choice of wineries, the musical style (local cover bands), the gastronomy – everything is tailored to the Swabian-bourgeois audience of Bissingen.
