About Berlinale Co-Production Market

Since 2004, the Berlinale Co-Production Market (BCPM) has been the central co-production market of the Berlinale and is one of the most important industry markets in international filmmaking. Running parallel to the European Film Market (EFM), the BCPM brings together producers, financiers, and distributors from around the world at Potsdamer Platz each year to initiate concrete co-production projects for feature films and – since 2021 – also for series. The event is only accessible to accredited industry professionals.

Industry Market at the Heart of the Berlinale

The Berlinale Co-Production Market is part of Berlinale Pro, the industry arm of the Berlinale, which also includes the European Film Market, Berlinale Talents, and the World Cinema Fund. While the Berlinale screens films, the Co-Production Market builds the films of tomorrow: over four intensive days, around 1,500 pre-arranged one-on-one meetings take place between producers of selected projects and over 600 potential co-producers, financiers, and distributors.

Structure and Programme Tracks

The BCPM is divided into several sections that represent different phases and talent levels:

  • Co-Production Market – the main section with around 30–35 selected feature film projects annually
  • Talent Project Market – in cooperation with Berlinale Talents, 10 alumni producers each with new projects
  • Books at Berlinale – book projects with film potential
  • Co-Pro Series – series projects from around the world

Prizes and Funding

Among the prizes awarded are the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award (€20,000), the VFF Talent Highlight Award (€10,000), the Gen Z Audience Award (€5,000, German-French Youth Office), and the Berlinale Series Market Award.

Atrium Tower and Gropius Bau

The venues are the Atrium Tower directly at the Berlinale Palast (Eichhornstraße 3) and the Gropius Bau, which becomes the EFM hub during the Berlinale. Pitches, one-on-one meetings, panels, and industry receptions take place across several floors. Berlin-Mitte and Tiergarten form the most productive hub for the global industry between Cannes and Toronto during the Berlinale days.

Access

The BCPM is not a public festival: participation is only possible with a valid EFM or BCPM accreditation. For filmmakers wishing to submit, there is an open call for projects every year (in the autumn of the preceding year).

Berlinale Co-Production Market — edition 2026

The 23rd Berlinale Co-Production Market will take place from February 14 to 17, 2026, at the Atrium Tower and Gropius Bau at Potsdamer Platz. 35 feature film projects from 27 countries and 10 series projects were selected from 390 submissions. Around 600 international co-producers, financiers, and distributors are expected. Expected highlights: Talent Project Market with 10 alumni producers, Books at Berlinale, Co-Pro Series, and awards from Eurimages, VFF, and the German-French Youth Office.

23rd Berlinale Co-Production Market

The 23rd edition of the Berlinale Co-Production Market runs as part of the 76th Berlinale (February 12–22, 2026) and focuses on four days between February 14 and 17, 2026. The market is part of Berlinale Pro and thus closely integrated with the European Film Market (February 12–18, 2026), Berlinale Talents (February 13–18, 2026), and the World Cinema Fund Day (February 17, 2026).

Projects and Selection

Out of around 390 submissions, 35 feature film projects from 27 countries were selected – 16 of them directed by women. Among them are established names such as Alonso Ruizpalacios, Aida Begić, Silver Bear winner Dénes Nagy, as well as ten alumni producers in the Talent Project Market (including Álvaro Gago, Simon Jaquemet).

Sections

  • Berlinale Co-Production Market – 35 feature film projects from 27 countries
  • Talent Project Market – 10 alumni producers from Berlinale Talents
  • Co-Pro Series – 10 series projects
  • Books at Berlinale – Book projects with film potential

Genres and Themes

Thematically, a strong genre component dominates – horror, especially body horror – alongside drama, animation, and comedies. Many projects explore identity and self-determination.
