Three days of Afrobeats, Pool Party and Cirque show alongside the Carnival of Cultures
For over ten years, the Berlin collective Freak de l'Afrique has been curating Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall, and Carnival series in the capital and is considered a central hub for Black dance culture in Germany. With the Berlin Carnival Weekender, it bundles its sets, day parties, and stage shows into a format precisely timed with the major Pentecost weekend of the Carnival of Cultures — three days of Afrobeats and Caribbean sound in the heart of Neukölln and Kreuzberg.
The Weekender operates on a clear scheme: each event is a standalone party with its own admission fee. The Beach Party on Friday afternoon and the Pool Party on Saturday afternoon are classically full-day events; Carnival Tunez at Metropol and the Cirque de l'Afrique XXL Carnival Edition at MAAYA Berlin are the long dance nights; participation in the Sunday parade with their own float and the Burn Afterparty at MAAYA Gallery conclude the weekend.
Berlin's Pentecost weekend has been the date for the Carnival of Cultures since the 1990s, one of Germany's largest street parades, organized by the Werkstatt der Kulturen with a start in the Neukölln district. The Berlin Carnival Weekender is an unofficial programme extension of this carnival — curated by Black DJs, collectives, and promoters, with a focus on Afro-Caribbean and Afrobeats-centric sounds. Those experiencing Berlin in May should ideally combine the official parade with the Weekender acts.
The officially confirmed lineup for the Weekender is published on freakdelafrique.com. Each event is ticketed separately — booking primarily via the xceed.me platform. DJ lineups per party are usually announced only one to two weeks before the festival starts on Instagram @fdla_berlincarnival.
The Berlin Carnival Weekender 2026 by Freak de l'Afrique includes six coordinated programme points over the Pentecost weekend, running parallel to the major Sunday parade of the Carnival of Cultures:
