Overview
Already in 2025, Freak de l'Afrique organized a Berlin Carnival Weekender alongside the Carnival of Cultures, featuring Beach, Metropol, and MAAYA parties. The format established itself as a fixture of Berlin's Black diaspora dance culture and is among the most popular spin-offs of the Carnival of Cultures.
In 2025, the collective also structured the Berlin Carnival Weekender as a multi-part Pentecost programme — with a sundowner beach party, dance nights at Metropol and MAAYA, and the Cirque de l'Afrique stage show. Participation in the Sunday Carnival parade with their own float was one of the crowd-pullers among the diaspora floats.
