The Bayreuth Summer of Culture with over 100 events from Pop to Classical
Bayreuth Summertime is the major summer event series in the city of Bayreuth in Bavaria. For more than three months, from June to August, over 100 individual events shape the city's cultural life. The programme is deliberately broad: it ranges from pop and rock concerts to classical chamber music, theatre, film, readings, and comedy.
What makes Bayreuth Summertime special is the variety of venues. Concerts take place in the historic Margravial Opera House, Villa Wahnfried, or the Steingraeber-Hoftheater, while the open-air Seebühne becomes the venue for evening performances. Many events are held outdoors, making summer in Bayreuth an experience for locals and visitors alike.
Bayreuth is world-famous as a festival city. While the Bayreuth Festival on the Grüner Hügel attracts international attention, Bayreuth Summertime forms the accessible, broad cultural counterpart for a large audience. Together with the Bayreuth Volksfest (popular festival) and the Bürgerfest (citizens' festival), the series is one of the defining summer events in the district of Bayreuth.
Whether you are a lover of classical chamber music, a pop fan, a theatre enthusiast, or a family – the diverse programme of Bayreuth Summertime appeals to a wide audience. The detailed programme with dates, artists, and venues is published annually by Bayreuth Tourism.
In 2026, Bayreuth Summertime will once again use the city's most beautiful locations from June to August – from the Margravial Opera House to the Seebühne and Villa Wahnfried.
