The Sunday after the last Sunday in April

The Mettingen Farmers' and Flower Market is one of the most traditional spring festivals in the Tecklenburger Land. It takes place every year on the last Sunday in April — in 2026, this will be Sunday, April 26, 2026. The market event combines a gardening and floristry market with the start of the simultaneous spring funfair in Mettingen — a perfect spring excursion destination in the western Münsterland.

Schultenhof and Town Center as Festival Backdrops

The festival grounds extend over two areas:

  • Schultenhof — historic farmstead in the town center with a barn and courtyard, an ideal setting for the gardening and floristry stalls
  • Mettingen Town Center — the central main street and market square, where shops hold their Sunday shopping event

Over 60 Exhibitors — Gardeners, Florists, Landscaping

More than 60 exhibitors present the best for gardens, balconies, and terraces. Gardeners, florists, and landscapers from Mettingen and the surrounding communities in the Tecklenburger Land are represented. They offer direct sales of:

  • Flowers and plants (summer bloomers, perennials, bulb flowers)
  • Shrubs and trees
  • Garden decorations and planters
  • Raised beds and plant tubs
  • Advice on garden and balcony design

At the same time, craftspeople set up their stalls — jewelry, ceramics, textiles, woodwork.

New in 2026: Energy-Saving Fair

For the first time in 2026: An energy-saving fair parallel to the Farmers' and Flower Market. In a 300 m² tent behind the barn, ten Mettingen construction companies will provide advice on energy-saving options — from photovoltaics and thermal insulation to heat pumps. The topic fits the growing importance of energy-efficient renovation in German homeownership regions.

Spring Funfair in Parallel

At the same time, the traditional spring funfair starts in Mettingen — with carousels, rides, snack stands, and the typical Volksfest atmosphere. The combination of market and funfair makes Sunday a complete family outing day.

Mettingen in the Tecklenburger Land

Mettingen is a municipality with around 11,500 inhabitants in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia, located on the northern edge of the Münsterland in the so-called Tecklenburger Land. The municipality is known as an idyllic hiking destination and for its Tüöttenmuseum (local history museum of traveling merchants). The Farmers' and Flower Market is one of the most important spring dates in the Steinfurt district and attracts visitors from the entire western Münsterland as well as from neighboring Lower Saxony.
