Live Music on the Village Square

Bargfeld-Stegen is a small municipality in the Stormarn district, about 30 kilometers north of Hamburg. With the Bandfestival Bargfeld-Stegen, it has its own musical calling card: two days of live music under the open sky, directly on the village square, with free admission. In the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the festival is one of the characteristic examples of a volunteer-run open-air scene that operates independently of the major festivals.

Applications, Selection, Performance

Unlike commercial festivals, the bands are selected through an open application process. For 2026, the organizer confirmed that applications have been received and the final selection of acts will be communicated in the lead-up period. As expected, young bands from the region will play alongside established acts from the Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein scene.

Family Festival in Open-Air Attire

The event is organized by Familientreff e.V. Bargfeld-Stegen. The association is committed to families in the community year-round — and finances a large part of its program with the band festival. The catering is organized accordingly: beer, cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks, and food ranging from sausages to fries, crêpes, and sweets, all organized by the association and its volunteers.

Volunteering Made Visible
