Punk Rock on the Banks of the Warnow
The Baltic Spirit Festival is a day festival dedicated to German-language punk rock. The venue is the Parkbühne in the IGA Park Rostock, located on the banks of the Warnow river in the Schmarl district. Organized by Kulturbotschafter Events, the festival combines a concentrated concert program with the atmosphere of a summer day by the Baltic Sea.
Concept »Sonne und Meer«
Under the motto »Sonne und Meer« (Sun and Sea), the festival aims to provide a holiday-like experience: for one day, Rostock becomes a meeting point for everyone who enjoys punk rock, good vibes, and the lifestyle of the Baltic Sea region. The line-up offers a cross-section of German-language punk — from anger and irony to attitude and catchy slogans.
Local Context
The IGA Park Rostock was created for the International Garden Exhibition 2003 and is now an established event location in the Hanseatic and university city in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. With the Parkbühne on the banks of the Warnow, it offers an open-air setting that distinguishes the Baltic Spirit Festival from classic club concerts.
