The big 90s and 2000s Open Air in Saarland
The Erlebnisort Reden in Landsweiler-Reden (town of Friedrichsthal, Regionalverband Saarbrücken) is an unusual festival site: the former Reden coal mine was converted into an event and recreation area after its closure — with a large open-air stage called “Auf der Alm” at the foot of the heap. Every Whit Friday, one of the biggest 90s open-air festivals in West Germany takes place here: Back For Good.
Organizer Alm Event Gastro GmbH makes a clear promise: one evening of nothing but the hits you heard as a teenager or in your early twenties in the 1990s and early 2000s. Eurodance (Snap, Haddaway, Captain Jack), boybands (Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC), girlbands (Spice Girls, No Angels), Eurotrash (Dr. Alban, Aqua), House (Daft Punk, Robin S.) — all live, with original acts and tribute bands.
Highlight 2026: The No Angels are coming to Reden with their “TwentyFive Live Tour” for their 25th band anniversary. They will be joined by Fun Factory (90s Eurodance legends) and Rednex (“Cotton Eye Joe”). Further acts will be announced by spring 2026. SR 1 — the pop station of Saarländischer Rundfunk — is the media partner and will provide pre-event coverage.
The festival clearly positions itself in the premium segment: standard tickets are around €46.90, VIP tickets are €239 (including a private buffet, unlimited drinks in the VIP zone, shuttle service, and stage proximity). Both categories have regularly sold out in previous years. Camping is available on the adjacent meadow.
Visitors to Reden immerse themselves in the history of Saarland's mining industry. The former Reden mine, once one of the largest coal mines in Saarland, is now a symbol of successful structural change: a zoo, water gardens, an industrial culture trail, and festival stages. Back For Good is just one of several Alm Events — other formats follow on Whit Saturday and Sunday.
The 2026 edition of Back For Good features a prominent core cast: No Angels celebrate their 25th band anniversary in Reden, Fun Factory brings 90s Eurodance, and Rednex deliver the iconic country-Eurodance hits. More acts will be announced gradually by spring 2026. SR 1 is the media partner for the festival.
