Augustdorfer Varieté — World-Class Show in the Senne

The Augustdorfer Varieté is one of Ostwestfalen-Lippe's most amazing cultural events: Since 1995, the Horatec Arena in the small Senne community of Augustdorf (just under 10,000 inhabitants) transforms once a year into an international variety stage with artists from all over the world. The 31st edition takes place on Saturday, November 7, 2026 — doors open 6:30 PM, show starts at 8:00 PM.

The 2026 Show Program

The Varieté traditionally focuses on a diverse mix of classic circus arts, modern acrobatics, and visual effects. Confirmed disciplines for 2026:

• Sand Painting (Sand Art Performance on light tables, projected onto a large screen)

• Juggling World Record Holder Danyl Lysenko (Ukraine) — recently won gold at the Juggling World Championships 2024, holds the world record with 13 rings juggled simultaneously

Hosted by: Bert Rex

The show will be hosted by Bert Rex, who returns as the master of ceremonies in 2026 after six years in Latin America. Bert Rex has made a name for himself as a magician, ventriloquist, and comedian, guiding the program with wit, pace, and improvisation skills. (Note: In previous editions, Jan Mattheis also hosted — the host lineup changes per show.)

The extended pre-show time is part of the concept: the Varieté is not just a show, but a social event with food, mingling, and atmosphere before and after the performance.

Horatec Arena and Augustdorf

Augustdorf is the smallest municipality in the Lippe district (Ostwestfalen-Lippe, North Rhine-Westphalia) and is located in the Senne, a unique heath and sand landscape on the southern edge of the Teutoburg Forest. The municipality is better known for its Bundeswehr barracks — the largest base of the German armed forces in NRW. The Horatec Arena is a modern multi-purpose venue with good stage technology and sufficient seating capacity for the variety show. Free parking, accessible entrance.
