Augustdorf — a young community in the Senne

Augustdorf is a comparatively young municipality in the Lippe district in Ostwestfalen-Lippe: founded in 1775 as a heath village in the Senne, nestled between Detmold to the south and Bielefeld to the west, on the edge of the Teutoburg Forest. With around 10,000 inhabitants, Augustdorf is manageable — known primarily for the large Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) garrison and the extensive heath areas around the town. In 2025, the community celebrated its 250th anniversary with a large village festival — the 2026 summer festival continues this tradition, calibrated slightly smaller, but permanently established as an annual highlight.

June 20th and 21st, 2026 — at the MBZ

The festival takes place on the weekend of June 20th-21st, 2026 on the grounds of the former main school — now the Media and Education Center (MBZ) — and the adjacent secondary school. The grounds offer spacious meadows, pavilions, and school buildings for indoor activities — perfect for a two-day summer festival with a mixed program.

Clubs, Schools, Churches, and Kindergartens — Joint Sponsorship

What distinguishes the Augustdorf Summer Festival is the broad participation of the community. The organizers put it this way: "Many of our clubs, schools, kindergartens, and churches are involved in the preparations." This means specifically: shooting clubs, heritage clubs, music clubs, carnival clubs, the football club, the church communities (Protestant and Catholic), the daycare centers, and the schools — all contribute stalls, program items, and activities.

Program — Stage, Food Stalls, Children's Program
