About Berlin Loves You
Berlin Loves You — edition 2026
The 2026 festival program was finalized at the beginning of 2026. Participants are expected from at least 15 countries, including Sweden, the Netherlands, Great Britain, USA, Italy, Poland, and Switzerland. Berlin participants typically make up about one-third of the singers.
The highlight is the final concert in the Chamber Music Hall of the Philharmonie Berlin on Sunday morning, where all four rehearsed works will be performed. Afterwards, the festival moves to Tiergarten for the Open Singing – a format that has attracted several hundred spontaneous Berlin guests in recent years.

A Festival for Singing Along, Not Just Listening
Berlin Loves You is part of the "Loves You" festival series by organizer CHORALSPACE, an international choir initiative headquartered in Berlin. Unlike traditional choral festivals where a select choir performs and the audience listens, here singers from all over the world come to Berlin and rehearse a program together. The format is open to community choirs, a cappella ensembles, gospel choirs, school choirs, and individuals – prior experience is welcome, but a professional level is not a prerequisite.
Four Days, Five Churches, One Concert Hall
The festival utilizes central Berlin performance venues: the Gustav-Adolf-Kirche in Charlottenburg for rehearsals, the Matthäuskirche at Kulturforum for lunchtime concerts, the Luisenkirche at Gierkeplatz for an evening concert, the Chamber Music Hall of the Berliner Philharmonie for the grand finale concert, and the Großer Tiergarten for the communal Open Singing on Sunday.
Repertoire 2026 – The Joint Material
Four pieces will be rehearsed together and performed at the final concert:
- Karl Jenkins – Adiemus (SATB version)
- Eriks Esenvalds – Only in Sleep
- Indodana (South African traditional, arr. Michael Barrett / Ralf Schmitt)
- You Raise Me Up (arr. Roger Emerson)
The sheet music packet is included in the participation fee and will be distributed to all participants on-site.
Jan Schumacher – Musical Direction
The artistic director is Jan Schumacher, University Music Director and Honorary Professor at Goethe University Frankfurt, and director of the Frankfurter Singakademie. Through his work, he has established the CHORALSPACE format as a key meeting point for the international amateur choir scene in recent years.
Open to the Berlin Public
All concerts are open to the Berlin public – lunchtime concerts at Matthäuskirche with free admission, the final concert at the Philharmonie at concert ticket prices. The Open Singing in Tiergarten on the last festival day is an invitation to all Berliners who want to sing along spontaneously – free of charge, no registration required.
