Two-day town festival in the city centre — 1st and 2nd August 2026 (with Après-Ski Party kick-off on 31st July)
Auerbach/Vogtland, with just under 17,000 inhabitants, is a typical Saxon small town located between Plauen, Zwickau, and the Czech border: a compact city centre, a vibrant club scene, and historic buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The town festival on the first August weekend is the annual highlight — two days when the city centre is closed to traffic and residents and guests from all over the Vogtland region come together.
Live bands from the region (cover pop, rock, Schlager, folk music), dance groups, choirs, and small theatrical performances alternate on several stages. Local caterers set up stalls, and club stalls offer food and drinks. For children, there are bouncy castles, carousels, and face painting corners. The Friday opening is the Après-Ski Party on Amtsstraße — a tradition established for years with Schlager music and a DJ.
The town festival is part of a calendar of events that puts Auerbach's city centre in the spotlight several times a year. The traditional Pottery Market on Altmarkt follows on 15th–16th August 2026 with around 50 ceramic workshops and live swing, Dixieland, and jazz. The Christmas Market on Neumarkt runs from 27th November to 13th December 2026 — with the classic Stollen cutting ceremony to open it on 27.11., the 'largest fairy tale parade in Saxony' on 29.11., and the closing parade on 13.12.
Auerbach is located in the Vogtland district, in the heart of one of Saxony's most charming low mountain landscapes. Together with neighbouring Falkenstein, Klingenthal, and Bad Brambach, the region is home to its own Saxon identity — Vogtland dialect, musical craftsmanship (violin and instrument making), and spa town tradition. Those extending their visit after the town festival should visit Plauen with its lace heritage or the nearby Pöhl dam area.
The Auerbach/Vogtland Town Festival continues its established format in 2026: on Friday evening, 31st July, the weekend begins with the Après-Ski Party on Amtsstraße — a popular Schlager and DJ version of the summer festival opening in Auerbach. On Saturday, 1st August, the city centre opens for the actual town festival: closure of the main traffic routes, setting up of stages, opening during the morning. On Sunday, 2nd August, the programme runs until the late afternoon with a morning pint and family activities.
Local bands and cover acts alternate on the stages, dance groups and choirs perform, and local caterers and clubs set up their stalls. The detailed schedule will be published shortly before the date on the City of Auerbach website.
Detailed programme will be published on stadt-auerbach.de and by WiA Stadtmarketing.
