Four weeks of classical, crossover, and open-air music in Ingolstadt
The Audi Summer Concerts are among the most distinguished classical festivals in Bavaria. AUDI AG has been organising the concert series in its home city of Ingolstadt, the centre of the supra-regional economic area in Upper Bavaria, since 1990. The programme spans around four weeks, bringing together top-class orchestras, acclaimed soloists, and selected emerging artists.
The centrepiece and most popular part of the festival are the two free open-air evenings in Ingolstadt's Klenzepark. Thousands of people gather on the lawns to experience great orchestral music under the open sky. In 2025, around 8,000 guests attended two balmy summer evenings in the park; the entire festival counted about 22,000 visitors across fourteen concerts.
A characteristic of the Audi Summer Concerts is the mix of tradition and experiment. In addition to symphonic concerts and chamber music, the programme includes opera productions, children's operas, and cross-genre projects. Crossover formats combine Baroque music with beatboxing, urban dance, or big band sound, opening up classical music to a broad, including young, audience.
Concerts take place at several locations in Ingolstadt: in Klenzepark for the open-air concerts, in the Festspielhalle for opera and ensemble productions, and in the Audi Forum. This distribution across the city makes the festival a cultural event that shapes the summer in Upper Bavarian Ingolstadt.
A declared aim of the Audi Summer Concerts is to promote young artists. Prize winners of international competitions and ensembles such as the Audi Youth Choir Academy are given a stage here alongside established stars of the concert scene.
The 2026 edition spans around four weeks with concerts in Klenzepark, the Festspielhalle, and the Audi Forum Ingolstadt. New chief conductor Mathias Wehr introduces himself during the opening weekend; the programme ranges from symphonic classical music and Baroque opera to big band crossover. Highlights include the free open-air evenings, the new production of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas with an urban dance ensemble and beatboxer, and the grand finale concert with the Audi Youth Choir Academy.
Ingolstadt is easily accessible via the A9 (Munich–Nuremberg) motorway and by train. Klenzepark is centrally located near the Danube and is within walking distance of the main train station and the city centre.
The two classical open-air concerts in Klenzepark are free. Tickets are required for all other concerts in the Festspielhalle and Audi Forum (available for purchase via www.sommerkonzerte.de, ticket hotline 0841 95919591, and Ticket-Regional sales points).
Early arrival and a picnic blanket are recommended for the open-air concert in Klenzepark; popular concerts in the Festspielhalle often sell out quickly.
