Contemporary Dance at the Center

The Tanztage Ingolstadt are dedicated to a young and diverse art form: contemporary dance. Originating at the beginning of the 20th century as a counter-movement to classical ballet, it is characterized by improvisation, organic sequences, and crossovers between the arts. The festival takes place in Ingolstadt in the state of Bavaria.

A Cooperative Project of the City

The Tanztage are a cooperative project of the Stadttheater and the Ingolstadt Cultural Office. Several venues are used – including the Theater am Glacis, the Stadttheater, and the Kulturzentrum neun. The program combines high-quality guest performances with accessible participatory offers.

Dance as a Space for Experience for Everyone

Education and outreach are a special concern: children and young people experience dance as a space for experience, not just as a performance. Workshops for all age groups invite participants to move themselves and make the festival accessible across generations.

The Urban Dance Battle

The highlight for the urban dance scene is the Urban Dance Battle: in categories such as Hip-Hop, House, and Waacking, a multifaceted picture of urban dance culture emerges, characterized by authentic moves and musical flair. Prize money awaits the top performers.

With the Tanztage, Ingolstadt positions itself as a center for contemporary stage art in the region. The festival enriches the city's event calendar and attracts dance artists and audiences from all over Bavaria.
