Eichtersheim Castle Park as a Festival Backdrop
Angelbachtal is a municipality with around 5,000 inhabitants in the Rhein-Neckar district (state of Baden-Württemberg, Kraichgau), formed in 1972 by the merger of the districts of Eichtersheim and Michelfeld. The Pentecost Market takes place in the historic Eichtersheim Castle Park – an English-style park with a pond, linden tree avenue, and the baroque water castle from the 17th century. This setting makes the Pentecost Market more than just a village festival: it lends the four festival days an almost theatrical framework.
Brilliant Fireworks on Saturday
The highlight of the first festival evening is the brilliant fireworks, which are set off over the castle park late on Saturday evening, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the Kraichgau region. The detonations are reflected in the castle pond and bathe the park trees in colorful light.
Festival of Lights with 40,000 Candles on Sunday
Sunday is dedicated to the Festival of Lights: more than 40,000 colorful candle lights line the paths, meadows, pond, and bridges of the castle park, creating a magical atmosphere. The spectacle is accompanied by a music and laser show that bathes the castle ensemble in colorful light in the late evening hours.
Rowing Boat Competition on Pentecost Monday
The third festival day – Pentecost Monday – is dedicated to the traditional rowing boat competition on the castle pond. Teams from clubs, families, and spontaneously formed crews compete on the 200-meter course in front of the castle. In addition, there is a trade exhibition and art exhibition, as well as the continuous offering of the amusement park and market.
Amusement Park, Market, and Dancing
During the four festival days, carousels, bumper cars, and other rides are set up. The market offers goods of all kinds, from household items and mead to handicrafts. Dance groups from the organizing association TSC Blau-Gelb Angelbachtal e.V. also perform on the TSC show stage: Tanzmäuse, BeatLovers, Dancing Kids, Capoeira group, Line Dance, and Qigong demonstrations.
History and Regional Significance
The Pentecost Market attracts visitors annually from the entire Kraichgau region and the Heilbronn/Heidelberg region and is considered one of the most traditional Pentecost Volksfeste in Northern Baden. The unique combination of the historic castle park, fireworks, Festival of Lights, and rowing boat competition sets it apart from numerous May and Pentecost markets.

Pentecost Market 2026 in the Castle Park
Three festival days centered around the baroque water castle of Eichtersheim await you at Pentecost 2026. Saturday starts at 4 PM with the tapping of the first keg and opening; the amusement park, catering stands, market, and stage program run until late at night. Highlight: the brilliant fireworks over the castle pond.
Sunday (Pentecost Sunday) opens at 10 AM and concludes with the famous Festival of Lights: over 40,000 colorful candle lights will be lit throughout the park, accompanied by a music and laser show late in the evening. Pentecost Monday (from 11 AM) is dedicated to the traditional rowing boat competition on the castle pond, as well as a trade exhibition, art exhibition, and an extended family day.

Getting There
Angelbachtal-Eichtersheim can be reached via the A 6 (Sinsheim or Wiesloch/Rauenberg exit) and the B 39. Shuttle buses to the castle park run during the Pentecost Market from Mühlhausen (Kraichgau-S-Bahn S 51 Heidelberg–Heilbronn) train station. Please observe traffic diversions around the castle during the festival.
