A Festival for All Fire Brigades

The Amt Sandesneben-Nusse in the District of Herzogtum Lauenburg comprises numerous small communities, each with its own volunteer fire brigade. Once a year, one of the brigades hosts the Amtsfeuerwehrfest — a rotating highlight that brings together the Amt's brigades, unites the association families, and gives the public an opportunity to celebrate their lifesavers. In 2026, the Volunteer Fire Brigade Siebenbäumen is the host.

The Festival Program

The program is spread over two days. Saturday afternoon and evening are dedicated to equipment displays, drills, children's activities, and a festival evening with music in the festival tent. The highlight on Sunday morning is the Festival Service of the Mariensprengel with Provost Oliver Erckens, which will be celebrated in the Festival Barn in the Twiete. This will be followed by a morning pint and winding down.

The Fire Brigade Community

The festival is part of a tradition: Schleswig-Holstein has a strong culture of volunteer fire brigades, which in rural areas are more than just emergency response organizations — they are social hubs where club life, youth work, and camaraderie are fostered. The Amtsfeuerwehrfest is the annual stage on which this function becomes visible.

Siebenbäumen in the District of Herzogtum Lauenburg

Siebenbäumen is a small municipality in the District of Herzogtum Lauenburg, in southern Schleswig-Holstein. The municipality belongs to the Amt Sandesneben-Nusse, an administrative association of numerous small communities whose fire brigades come together for the festival weekend. Its location in the hilly Lauenburg Geest makes it a quiet, rural setting.
