20th Anniversary Edition at Tanzbrunnen — sold out and legendary
Since 2005, the Amphi Festival at Tanzbrunnen Köln has been one of the most important European meeting points for the Schwarze Szene (Dark Scene). Alongside the Wave-Gotik-Treffen Leipzig (Pentecost) and Mera Luna in Hildesheim, Amphi is the central festival address for Gothic, Darkwave, Industrial, EBM, and Synth-Pop in Germany. The 20th Anniversary Edition in 2026 sold out in record time — its status as a cult festival is now firmly cemented.

The Tanzbrunnen Köln is located directly on the Rhine in Deutz, within Rheinpark. The open-air amphitheater seats around 8,000 people, and the adjacent Theater am Tanzbrunnen accommodates another 2,500 — together, they form the main stages of the Amphi Festival. Its riverside location, with views of the Cathedral and the Hohenzollern Bridge, is considered one of Germany's most beautiful festival backdrops.
The Amphi Festival is not just about the stage program — it's an experience weekend for the Schwarze Szene:
The festival offers a personalized schedule tool, allowing visitors to mark bands and create their individual timetable. A curated Spotify playlist enables pre-listening to all acts. Bands marked with an asterisk (*) are making their festival debut — important information for Schwarze Szene insiders.
The Schwarze Szene (Gothic) emerged in the late 1970s from Post-Punk and has since diversified into numerous subgenres: Gothic Rock, Dark Wave, Industrial, EBM, Neofolk, Future Pop. It is one of Europe's oldest subcultures, with its own fashion, music, literature, and lifestyle. The Amphi Festival unites this diversity under one roof.
Cologne is not just the city of Carnival and the Cathedral — it's also a hub for alternative music scenes. The Amphi at Tanzbrunnen, the Live Music Hall, the Gloria, the Bürgerhaus Stollwerck, and numerous smaller clubs shape the alternative music landscape. The Amphi is the largest manifestation of this scene.
The Amphi Festival 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of one of Europe's most important Gothic festivals. Sold out in record time, with over 40 acts across two festival days at Tanzbrunnen.
