Itzehoer Woche — three highlights, nine days
The Itzehoer Woche is not a classic weekend city festival, but rather spans nine days and is divided into three clearly recognizable highlights:
- Wine festival on the opening weekend — three stages, regional and national bands
- City flea market in the middle of the week — the entire city center becomes a bargain hunter's paradise
- Children's day & plant market on the closing Sunday — family program on the Malzmüllerwiesen
Wine festival with three stages
The Itzehoer wine festival, one of the largest wine festivals in Westholstein, kicks things off. Established regional cover bands and newcomers perform on the Sparkassen stage, the Disco stage is reserved for electronic dance music, and the Youth stage features young acts from hip-hop, rock, and metal in the city center. The wine festival attracts around 25,000 visitors.
City flea market — the city center as a bargain hunter's paradise
During the city flea market, Itzehoe's city center transforms into a treasure hunter's paradise: private individuals sell antiques, collectibles, curiosities, and vintage fashion in the pedestrian zones. Stall registration is handled through the Tourist Information; private stalls cost €25 per 3 meters of space.
Children's day and plant market
The closing Sunday is dedicated to families: on the Malzmüllerwiesen, there are interactive stations, giant trampolines, and a speed tubing course, live performances, and games. In parallel, the beekeepers' association organizes a plant market with bee-friendly plants — nature conservation and city festival go hand in hand.
Itzehoe — district town of Steinburg
Itzehoe is the district town of Steinburg in Schleswig-Holstein and, with around 32,000 inhabitants, is one of the largest towns in the Westholstein marshland. Its location on the Stör — a tributary of the Elbe — and its historic city center with the market square, Sankt Laurentii Church, and Theater Itzehoe provide the setting for vibrant city life. The Itzehoer Woche is the absolute summer highlight here and is organized by Stadtmanagement Itzehoe in cooperation with the main sponsor Sparkasse Westholstein and many associations.
