The Alzenau Christmas Market is organized annually by the City of Alzenau and takes place on the first Advent weekend in the town center. Alzenau is located in the district of Aschaffenburg on the Bavarian Lower Main, in the extreme northwest of Bavaria, on the border with Hesse. The market is firmly anchored in the town's event calendar and is one of the kick-offs to the regional Advent season.
Atmosphere and Program
The town center presents itself with festively decorated stalls offering arts and crafts, regional specialties, and gift ideas. Permanent attractions include:
- a historic St. Nicholas carousel
- an oriental nativity scene in front of the town hall

GHG Christstollen Raffle
A hallmark of the Alzenau Christmas Market is the Christstollen raffle of the Alzenau Trade and Commerce Association (GHG). Tickets are available directly at the GHG stand; the prizes are masterfully baked Christstollen from traditional Alzenau bakeries. The proceeds are divided equally between the hospice and the social station – a lived piece of civic engagement in the midst of the Advent hustle and bustle.

The Alzenau Christmas Market 2026 will be held by the City of Alzenau on the first Advent weekend, from November 28 to 30, in the town center. Festively decorated stalls, the historic St. Nicholas carousel, and the oriental nativity scene in front of the town hall will create an Advent atmosphere. The Alzenau Trade and Commerce Association (GHG) will once again hold its traditional Christstollen raffle during the market; tickets are available directly at the GHG stand, with proceeds going equally to the hospice and the social station. Mulled wine, roasted almonds, and regional delicacies complete the market on the Bavarian Lower Main.

Getting There
Alzenau is located in the district of Aschaffenburg on the Bavarian Lower Main. Train connection: Alzenau station on the Kahlgrundbahn (connection towards Hanau/Aschaffenburg). By car via the A45 (exit Alzenau-Mitte) or the B8.
Admission
Admission to the Christmas market is free. Food, drinks, and raffle tickets for the Christstollen raffle are sold on-site.
Tip
The historic St. Nicholas carousel and the oriental nativity scene in front of the town hall are particularly popular with families. With a raffle ticket, you support the hospice and the social station.
