Large outdoor test and experience festival in the Bavarian Alps
The AlpenTestival is a four-day outdoor experience festival held annually in high summer in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The festival offers day tours and workshops covering the entire spectrum of modern mountain sports — turning the Bavarian Alps around the local mountain Zugspitze into a playground for several thousand outdoor enthusiasts from Germany, Austria, and all of Europe.
The festival's base camp is the Olympic Ski Stadium at Gudiberg — venue of the Four Hills Tournament and several World Cups. This is where registration, exhibitor tents, equipment rental, a gastronomic area, and the stage for evening talks and film screenings are located.
The program includes over 40 guided activities in the surrounding mountains and valleys. Examples:
Characteristic of the festival: outdoor brands provide their equipment for free testing. Those booking an MTB tour can test a high-quality bike. Those trying trail running get shoes from top brands to try out. Helmets, climbing harnesses, backpacks, and clothing — all included in the rental.
Entry to the festival grounds is free — visitors can explore the marketplace, try out equipment, experience the stage, and participate in the evening program. Tickets are only required for guided tours and workshops, which must be booked via the official festival website.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen lies at the foot of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain at 2,962 m. The twin town is home to the Ski World Cup venue, the Olympic ski jump, and is one of the most important mountaineering centers in the Bavarian Alps. The AlpenTestival utilizes the unique infrastructure and spectacular mountain backdrop to create a festival that is both sportingly serious and logistically professional.
The 2026 edition of the AlpenTestival continues the proven concept: four days of outdoor festival in the shadow of the Zugspitze, with the Olympic Ski Stadium as the base camp and over 40 guided activities in the surrounding mountains.
Outdoor brands will provide their latest generation equipment for free testing. Visitors can test multiple activities in one day — e.g., e-MTB in the morning, climbing at noon, trail running in the afternoon. All accompanied by professional guides and with professional equipment.
