18th Open-Air Metal Festival on the Müllerhof meadow in Urbach in the Westerwald with over 80 bands and camping
The Field Invasion Festival in Urbach is one of the largest and most established metal open-airs in Rhineland-Palatinate. What began more than fifteen years ago as a modest initiative has developed into a three-day festival event with over 80 bands and tens of thousands of visitors.
In 2026, the 18th edition will take place from July 9th to 11th on the Müllerhof meadow in Urbach. The weekend ticket costs €49 (€65 with a T-shirt), camping is included. Over 80 bands from the international metal spectrum will be on stage, from established acts in the scene to up-and-coming newcomers.
The Field Invasion Festival is proof that a dedicated crew of passionate scene activists can build one of Germany's most important underground metal festivals within a few years. What started as a regional concert format has evolved into a three-day major event with supra-regional appeal, expecting up to 80,000 visitors.
The Müllerhof meadow in Urbach (Selters administrative district) offers an ideal setting for a metal open-air: wide green spaces for the stages and camping, easily accessible via the A3 motorway, nestled in the typical Westerwald landscape. The setting gives the festival an authentic open-air character that clearly distinguishes it from urban festival formats.
The 2026 program features over 80 bands from the entire spectrum of metal – from Heavy and Thrash to Death and Black Metal, as well as modern subgenres. Confirmed acts include Stesy, Noctune, Colors of Autumn, Goldsmith, Backstabbed, Snow White Blood, Gone, King Nugget Gang, Virocracy, Artemis Rising, Unhinged, Evil Excess, Abandoned in Destiny, Unhallowed Deliverance, and Never Back Down, as well as numerous other acts.
What sets the Field Invasion Festival apart is its strong sense of community. Despite its growth, the festival has maintained a family-like atmosphere. Bands and audience mingle during the festival, the crew remains approachable, and the entire ambiance is characterized by a genuine love for metal culture.
The festival ticket for the entire weekend costs €49 – a price that is exceptionally fair given the diversity of bands offered. For €65, you also get an official festival T-shirt. Camping is included in the ticket and makes the Field Invasion a classic festival weekend experience.
