Ten Years of African Food Culture in Berlin
The African Food Festival Berlin was founded in 2016 to showcase African cuisine, culture, and Black entrepreneurs in Berlin. In a city where the African diaspora makes up around 2% of the population but is significantly underrepresented in gastronomy and retail, the festival has become a key meeting point. In 2026, it celebrates its 10th anniversary with an enhanced three-day edition.
What Makes the 2026 Edition Special
From May 8th to 10th, 2026, Jules B-Part in Gleisdreieckpark opens its doors for the Spring Market. Over the weekend, you'll find:
- Authentic African Cuisine featuring traditional dishes from West, East, South, and North Africa
- African Fusion and vegan options
- Over 50 Black-owned Brands: Fashion, skincare, haircare, jewelry, home accessories, books
- DJ Sets all day long: Afrobeats, Amapiano, Afrohouse
- Indoor designer market as well as outdoor spaces directly in Gleisdreieckpark
- Family-friendly concept – children under 12 get free admission
Jules B-Part and Gleisdreieckpark
Jules B-Part is a modern wooden structure at the entrance of Gleisdreieckpark – one of Berlin's most popular parks in the last decade, built on former railway land between Schöneberg, Kreuzberg, and Tiergarten. The venue combines a café, exhibition space, event area, and nearby park areas for outdoor activities – the ideal backdrop for a format that blends an indoor market with an outdoor picnic atmosphere.
Kreuzberg and Berlin's Diaspora Scene
The Kreuzberg district in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg borough has been a hub for migrant cultures in Berlin for decades. With this festival, the African diaspora firmly positions itself on Berlin's cultural calendar – not as folklore, but as a contemporary entrepreneurial and cultural scene made accessible to a broader city audience.
