Berlin's Festival of Colors with Bollywood DJs, South Asian Street Food, and Temple Flower Colors at Gleisdreieck
Holi is the festival of spring, colors, and the victory of good over evil in India — and since 2024, it has also had a permanent home in Berlin: Every year in March, the Berlin collective Wedesi invites you to Holi in Berlin at the Jules B-Part grounds at Gleisdreieck, right on the border between Kreuzberg and Schöneberg in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district. The third edition will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
What sets Holi in Berlin apart from many commercial color runs in Germany are the colors themselves: Wedesi uses organic, finely ground powder colors — skin-friendly, washable, non-toxic — derived in India from discarded temple flowers. Women's cooperatives are behind the production, giving the festival a sustainable and socially conscious touch.
Musically, Holi in Berlin ranges from Bollywood pop and Bhangra to South Asian club music. DJs like Narsimha, Swara Dippa, and Dance Sandeep alternate with live acts such as the Kshitij Vedi Live Band and the Qissa Band, along with dance groups from the Berlin Desi community. The main phase with the central "color throw" takes place between 2 PM and 7 PM; from sunset, the grounds transform into a Bollywood open-air floor.
Over ten South Asian food stalls line the stage area — from Spice & Chutney to Nila Kitchen and Bombay Bite Club — complemented by Berlin's favorite stalls and a Desi flea market offering arts and crafts, clothing, and jewelry. Families will find a dedicated Kids Zone (ages 3–12) with supervised activities and a gentler color program.
Holi in Berlin is one of the capital's youngest festivals — and at the same time, one that makes Berlin's growing South Asian diaspora visible. Wedesi explicitly sees the festival as an intercultural spring celebration: Berliners of all backgrounds are invited to join the festivities. Tickets are in the low double-digit range and regularly sell out before the event. Thus, the festival has established itself as a permanent spring fixture in Berlin within just two editions.
Holi in Berlin 2026 continues the format of previous years, focusing the afternoon on the classic Holi color throw between 2 PM and 7 PM. The festival extends into the late evening with a Bollywood open-air featuring DJ sets, dance performances, and a food court serving Indian, Pakistani, and Sri Lankan cuisines. Holi in Berlin is organized by the Berlin collective Wedesi, specializing in Indian events in the German capital. The colors are exclusively organic and produced from recycled temple flowers.
