Special market for the 2nd Advent on Aloys-Nesseler-Platz
Bexbach is a town with around 17,500 inhabitants in the Saarpfalz district in eastern Saarland. Characterized by its mining past (coal until 1995) and today known for the Saarländisches Bergbaumuseum (Saar Palatinate Mining Museum), the town combines industrial history with active city life. Events such as the Mondscheinmarkt (Moonlight Market), the traditional Bexbacher Wochenmarkt (Bexbach Weekly Market), and the annual Adventsmarkt (Christmas Market) keep the central Aloys-Nesseler-Platz vibrant as a meeting point.
The Adventsmarkt Bexbach is designed as a Sondermarkt (special market) – a format that builds on the regular weekly market but is supplemented with Christmas accents. Fresh produce, flowers, and crafts meet seasonal offerings: Advent wreaths, fir branches, small Christmas trees, beeswax candles, and regional specialties from the Saarpfalz region.
The town of Bexbach explicitly describes the Adventsmarkt as a "complement to the popular Mondscheinmarkt during the Kirmes (funfair)". With the Adventsmarkt, visitors are offered an additional shopping experience during Advent – a practical stop for Christmas shopping, considerably more manageable than the large Christmas markets in neighboring towns and with a local character.
Due to the early hours (8:00 AM to 3:00 PM), the Adventsmarkt is particularly suitable for a relaxed Saturday morning – a coffee with mulled wine aroma, fresh bread from regional bakers, sausage specialties from Saarland butchers, and gift items from craftspeople from the Saarpfalz district make up the offerings.
Beyond the Adventsmarkt, Bexbach has its own program during Advent, including lighting, concerts in the Catholic and Protestant churches, and smaller club festivals. Those who combine the Adventsmarkt with a stroll through the town will get to know the Saarpfalz town from its quiet side.
One-day special market in the format of the Bexbach weekly market. Seasonal accents: Advent wreaths, Christmas tree branches, beeswax candles, and regional specialties from producers in the Saarpfalz district.
