A Village Celebrates Its Anniversary
Oberoppurg is a district of the municipality of Oppurg in the Saale-Orla district, southeast of Pößneck. In 2026, the district celebrates its 955th birthday – an occasion that will be celebrated with a three-day festival weekend around Pentecost.
Three Festival Days at Pentecost
From Saturday, May 23rd to Monday, May 25th, 2026 – with preparations and kick-off already on Friday, May 22nd – the district will transform into a festival mile. The program includes a parade, live music, food and drinks from regional sources, and a program for all ages. The festival committee, supported by clubs and citizens, has been preparing the anniversary for months.
Oberoppurg – Saale-Orla District
The Saale-Orla district is located in southern Thuringia, between Saalfeld, Schleiz, and the Bavarian border. Oberoppurg belongs to the administrative community of Oppurg, a rural area with a strong club structure and a distinct village culture.
